This whole week was orientation week for us, freshmen to familarise us with the campus as well as to know our future classmates... On the first day which was this monday, i definetely felt the jitters as i did not know anyone who is taking the same course as me.... except for a girl that i had met during the registration for our student card.. We assembled in a lecture hall where we were seated according to our class and i met our facilitators (2 girls from 2nd year DBF)... we were given a talk regarding the orientation programme and together with my new class, we proceeded to a room. There, we introduced each other and had to memorise all of our new classmates' names as we were playing a game. We also nominated our class chairman, vice-chairman and secretary... We were also told that we had to select 2 person, a girl and a guy to dress up for the SP pagent contest held on the next day... We had to crack our heads to think about what character should they be dressed as and we finally decided on superman and wonderwoman as the theme of the contest was fantasy.... We had our lunch together as a class and after that, we were supposed to play wet games but it was cancelled due to the heavy down pour... The next day, we had to assemble in the auditorium and had to listen to speeches from the SP principal, SP school of business principal, SP school of business club president and the librarian... It was freezing in the auditorium and thankfully i brought along my jacket... After those informative talks, the fun began... The contest.. it was simply hilarous as some of the memorable characters that appeared were a robot, a geisha, little red riding hood, johnny depp, a roti-prata man, a pair of king and queen cards (in the form of human haha), a retro couple... The mass com students were making the most noise and were battling against the tourism and resort management students... Our representative was eliminated during the first round but we knew that they did their best.... In the first round, the couples had to face back to back and had to move a basketball from their backs to the ground without allowing the ball to bounce.... The second round, the couples had to answer questions regarding their partners and some of the questions were really difficult.. (like what's the 4th number in your partner's IC number... That's like real hard!!!)... The 3rd round is pictionary where the partner had to act out the object or person being flashed on the screen and the other partner had to guess... In the last round, the contestants had to answer questions regarding SP and finally, the mass com couple, consisting of the roti-prata man and geisha emerged victory... I had a great laugh during the contest and reached home at around 4 plus.. On wednesday was our laptop training.. It was a waste of time as we needed to only install 2 software and i had to spend an hour or so figuring out how to connect to SP wireless.. after the installation, my friends (Eveline, Eugene) and I had to go to the finance department to make our payment for our foreign language course... we were totally lost and had to keep on relying on the maps available around the campus... We had to wait until 2pm as the finance department counter was out for lunch and we ate at Mcdonalds.. We made our payment and had to make our way to the student union department to collect our orientation packages.... It was raining and we had to constantly seek for shelter and we ended up lost... haha... We arrived at the building and we simply exhausted... We rested and had to trek all the way back to the language department to collect our japanese textbooks and had to drop our form in the box... I was surprised by the fact that many students signed up for japanese course and thankfully Eveline and I registered early.. Eugene on the other hand, was quite disappointed by the fact that he did not have anyone he knew who took french.. On the 4th day, we had flag day at woodlands.. It was my first time during this and i was simply scared to approach people for donation.. The morning did not went well for us and we decided to eat breakfast at Jurong east (actually we thought that there will be a crowd at Jurong east but there wasn't so we ended up eating at Long John's silver).. We travelled back to woodlands and made up our mind to seriously "work".. We targeted passengers who alighted from the bused at the bus interchange.. Eveline and i stood near the escalator and we each took a side and asked the public for donation... At first, i was pretty nervous but after awhile, i became confident and started to approach more people... Some people i met were generous and a lady even donated five dollars.. but some of them simply walked pass me, pretending that i'm invinsible or so... I collected in total $41 (including $10 which i donated)... What i learnt from this is that you got to ask for donation and not just stand there and keep your mouth shut... people would not even bother looking at you.. Of course there is the basics like thanking the person... I think i repeated the same sentences ("Excuse me, would you like to donate" and "Thank you Sir/madam.. have a nice day..") about 50 times... hmm.... i think more than that hehe... We were dismissed around 4 plus and i was exhausted as i woke up at 6 since we had to meet at woodlands at 7.30am... I slept early.. around 9 plus and was grateful that today was a rest day for me...

now you notice i talk a lot!
